Monday August 23 through Saturday August 28                  Roosevelt County Fair

Last year at this time, we were pleased to demonstrate amateur radio by providing communications at the Roosevelt County Sheriffs Department emergency operations communications trailer.  This booth attracted a lot of attention, both from  fair goers as well as from hams all around the country as we talked about our collaboration with the Sheriffs Department and public safety.

The Sheriffs Department has asked the club to join them again this year at the Roosevelt County Fair,  Monday August 23 through Saturday August 28 .  We need your assistance to set up antennas and gear, schedule operators for the duration, and tear down.

ARRL AFFILIATION

The Greyhound ARC has received its official affiliation with the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL), the national association for amateur radio.  Our club supports the activities of the ARRL including the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) SKYWARN program, and the Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS).

HAM SHACK

The club is actively seeking the donation of equipment and materials to build a new club station.  We would like to  acquire antenna wire, transmission line, both ladder and coax, HF and VHF antennas and tuners, HF and VHF rigs, and an HF amplifier.

TOWER SECTIONS

The club is seeking used Rohn RG25 or Rohn 45 tower sections (in good condition) to assist members in constructing their home stations.

Software Defined Radios

Software defined radios represent  some of the latest and greatest technology for amateur radio enthusiasts. Some of our members are experimenting with software defined radios such as KB9YIG Tony Parks' Softrock Lite SDR receivers and Softrock RXTX version 6.2 SDR transcievers.  Check out this technology on our 'projects' webpage.

STAY TUNED . . . more to come ! ! !
